There were many things that Conner did not miss at all from school. He didn't miss potions, or the curfews, the way the kitchen didn't let him enter at a certain time, or prefects. He hated all of it. Yet on the other side of the coin, there were a few things that he did miss. He missed the warm food, the happy elves, the way snow fell everywhere and most of all he missed Quidditch. Oh how he used to play, his last year finally making captain of the Hufflepuff team. The glory of beating Ravenclaw in his last match, and the feel of winning.

He missed it, not necessarily the glory, but the way he could fly, lead people in flying positions to bring them victory, the way it would feel when your body was coursing with adrenaline. It was all a fantastic feeling. Freedom.

And so here he was, despite the snow, he straddled his broom and hopped off the ground. He sighed and felt his body relax, just knowing he was back, if only a minute. Flying high he felt himself feel younger, as silly as that sound. And turned the wheels back two years, to being a Hufflepuff again.

Flying had always been a way for Adriano to relax, to wind down and for a moment just forget about everything. It was why he made sure his broomstick was always in top condition, even if he didn't fly everyday. He had not replied his mother's letter, not even after meeting that witch, Cassana. She had proven to be nice company, and despite feeling better about the whole ordeal, had not found the energy nor words to send a note back.

And then he received a second one, again from her, and this time it had gone into more detail about him and how she honestly felt she could move on with the man. All the good thoughts Adriano had left, and he threw the letter away, storming out of his room, both upset and angry.

Grabbing his broomstick, he moved towards the Quidditch pitch. The wind against his face and the snow falling around him would be almost therapeutical - or at least, he hoped so. But somebody was already there, and Adriano didn't like to intrude. Waiting to catch his attention, he offered a tentative polite smile. "May I join you?" he asked as politely as he could manage.

Conner found himself finally able to just take a break. He forget those books that were, if he was honest, collecting dust on his desk, and it was great. He never really got to take advantage of the campus with it's multiple uses. For example he never took advantage of the food there, or the night life. Instead he concentrated on going home each day after class, and trying to push through the few hours of work he got to pick up, then to go home and do some reading. He couldn't disappoint Professor Ellingston; he already pushed it with bullshitting the exam, but he couldn't do that.

His brow furrowed in thought; he also had to take advantage on being on campus because of Rhian. She was a dormer, based on what gossip said, and he needed to try to 'accidentally' bump into her. Then casually ask her to the carnival and slowly head towards a date. It seemed flawless. His thoughts on what could be where interrupted by a voice.

Looking down he noticed a boy looking a bit meek. Shy smile, good bloke as far as he could tell. Leaning down, he smiled brightly.

"Sure thing kid, it's a pretty big area" he said smiling.

[[OOC: Sorry for the late reply! Adriano muse has been so low, but he's coming back, slowly but surely. Also, I legit don't know what I'm writing (I'm planning for IRL class and I'm distracted) so it may be rambly... :S]]

It was all Adriano could do to not flinch as the man leaned towards him. While he was quite sure no harm was meant, the entire process of having someone so high up peering down at him was intimidating, because from that height the man could very easily do something to harm him and Adri wouldn't stand a chance.

But then he received a friendly reply, and relaxed just a little more. "Thanks," he murmured, then realized that the other wizard probably didn't hear him, and raised his voice, repeating, "Thank you."

Mounting his broomstick, he kicked off the ground and took to the skies. It almost felt as though he was leaving his problems behind, on the ground, but he knew it wouldn't last forever. Sooner or later, he would have to come back down, and no matter how far away from his take off point he landed, his problems caught up with him. Still, the temporary freedom was something he needed, especially now.

He never did think when he was in the air, not like he knew some did; for him, flying was literally a way to forget everything and just relax. It was like his mind was clear for the first time, and nothing ever bothered him. A few laps of the place later, he stopped mid-air to take a break, a sincere smile on his features.
