University had been a big challenge for her, what with the sheer amount of people. Still, it had been a interesting change, and Lilliana was determined not to let anything ruin her experience, not even her own self. The first few days passed without incident, with Lily having memorized the pattern of the floor; not once did she look up when she walked. Classes had been harder, but she managed to compromise by sitting in the front and keeping her gaze firmly on the table or the textbook. It was safe to say nobody - neither student nor professor - had heard her voice for the past week.

Bella was a good companion, someone she could talk freely to, and she often wrote to her brothers and parents. Even then, it was in her room, with the doors closed and locked. The house elf had become somewhat of a best friend to the witch, and the entire Noel family treated her with kindness and respect, almost as though the elf was one of them. This was a trait that both Miranda and Timothy believed in strongly - equality - and as such, all three of their children were raised to also believe in this.

The first few classes had gone well and Lily only had two incidents where she had visions, and so far, no prophecies had been made. She knew, however, that at anytime, usually when she was least expecting it, they would come. All the Professors had been briefed (or so she had been told) about her ability, and Bella accompanied her to all her classes, much to the amazement of other students, but if they ever said anything about it, Lily didn't know, nor care.

It had been a week since the term started; homework had been given for the weekend, and Lilliana had decided not to spend her time in her dorm alone - and she had specifically requested to not be placed with anyone, and had a bigger room to accommodate Bella - instead heading over to the library.

Finding an empty booth near the back, she pilled her books and parchments of paper on the table, fully intending to start her homework. Instead, she got distracted and began to scribble down some random thoughts into her personal notebook, so fully engrossed in what she was doing that she didn't realize someone had sat next to her.

Amerix walked into the library breathing in the comforting scent of old books. The library was her favourite place to be. It was her sanctuary, somewhere she could relax, lose herself in the world of fiction or study for her classes but most of all, she cherished the silence. She never was one to like the noise of the students in the cafeteria during lunch or the mindless chatter and gossip that filled the hallways. No, she preferred being somewhere quiet where she could hear herself think, where she could daydream about the future, where she could concentrate on her studies.

Amerix walked through the rows and rows of bookshelves housing hundreds of books. Did she want to study or relax with novel? She stood for a moment, pondering what would be best. She had started the term late and that put her behind most of the students in her classes. She would have to catch up with them if she wanted to keep up with the class and not embarrass herself if the professors asked questions. That decided, she found a textbook and proceeded to look for a place she could sit and take notes.

Looking around, she noticed that the library was quite full. She had two choices; one empty seat beside a random guy or another one beside a girl. Naturally, she chose the one with the girl. As she neared, she observed that the girl was writing furiously in her notebook. She paused for a moment to decide what to do. Should she approach her? Would she get mad if a stranger shared a table with her? Should she say hi or just sit down and not talk? If she said hi, it might turn awkward if she didn't continue the conversation. If she sat down without saying anything, it might be considered rude.

What should I do, what should I do? Amerix thought frantically. She couldn't stand there all day. As it is, she was taking too long to decide. People would notice and think that something was wrong with her.

Taking a deep breath to calm herself, she sat down beside the girl. Surprisingly, she continued writing not noticing her at all.

Now what should I do? Say hi? What if she doesn't want to be disturbed? It would be rude if I said nothing. were the thoughts racing through Amerix's mind.

Risking disturbing the girl, she cleared her throat and said, "Hi, I'm Amerix. Mind if I sit here?"

A short clear of her throat alerted Lilliana and, before she realized what she was doing, she looked up towards the source of the voice. That was mistake number one. Mistake number two was not instantly looking away as Lily continued to gaze at the witch, forgetting for a few moments that it was a bad idea to do so. Blinking once, the library suddenly began to fade, as though a bad reception on a TV channel. Another sight flashed in front of Lily.

    "Hey loner!"

The back of a girl walking down the hallway. A hand reaching forward, grabbing the arm of said girl, pulling her back. The harsh tone of the boy accusing her of nasty things, calling the witch names.

A professor coming round the corner; the boy lets go. A bruised covered arm.

The scene blurred again and changed.

The same girl as earlier, sitting alone at a library table, books scattered in front of her. Standing up with a sigh and gathering the stuff.

    The image jumped.

The witch opening the door to a room. A boy inside, kissing another person. A gasp. Tears. A slamming door. Running feet.

Finally, it ended, and Lilliana found herself back in the library, staring at the witch she had seen in her mind, except much older. Bella was by her side, holding her arm tightly, preventing her from moving as she sometimes did when she saw visions. How long was I out? she wondered, hoping it hadn't been for too long a time. The witch in front of her began to speak and Lilliana shook her head slowly. So her name was Amerix. "Hello," she replied softly. "Go ahead," she continued, adding a, "I'm fine, Bella, thanks," to the house elf who let go and moved back to her previous position on the other side of Lily.

Looking away, she glanced down at her notebook. The witch that was now seated next to her seemed like quite a nice person, and Lily tried to forget what she had just seen. It was private, too private, and it always gave her an uneasy feeling when she saw things like that, because to her, she was invading something without permission. She was seeing a memory of someone who she had never met and there was no trust between them. Deciding that it was about time she made a friend, she spent a couple of minutes writing down a greeting in her notebook before turning her head towards Amerix and saying, "I'm Lilliana. It's nice to meet you. What are you studying?"

Amerix offered a smile when the girl turned to look at her. She noticed that she blanked out for a short while, her eyes unfocused. A house elf was gripping her arm. A moment later, the girl seemed to snap out of wherever she had gone and responded to her question. She sighed in relief when the girl didn’t seem too mad at being interrupted. In fact she seemed rather friendly. That was a good sign but as usual, Amerix had her defences up remembering her promise to herself that she would not simply put her trust in people she had just met. She could not afford to get hurt again, couldn’t endure to go through another emotional rollercoaster ride. All she needed was to get through MAE and become an Auror. She did not want drama in her life. If this girl proved that she could be trusted, she would be Amerix's first friend in this university.

Amerix watched as the girl wrote something down in her notebook before introducing herself and asking a question.

“That’s a very nice name,” Amerix replied. “I’m majoring in Auror. It’s my first year here. What about you?”

“I’m majoring in Auror. It’s my first year here. What about you?”

"Thank you," Lily said softly, daring to glance up briefly to meet the other witch's eyes. Hopefully no more visions would come - or worse, a prophecy. A few moments passed and nothing happened, and Lilliana managed a smile. Merlin knew it was a fake; she was much to horrified at what she had seen to offer a real one. Still, the Auror-in-training didn't seem overly affected by what happened, which was, she reckoned, a good sign.

Of course, the first thing she had been told was that it was not good to judge someone based on what she saw; they were usually mere snippets, glances into the past of a person, and the full story was never something that was revealed. It always bothered her because she could never ever keep herself from feeling, be it positively or negatively, despite her mind constantly reminding her that what she saw might not be what she thought it to be.

"I'm a healer in training. It's my first year, too," she answered, ducking her head back down towards her notebook.

Amerix nodded at Liliana’s reply. Healing was a very useful thing to use. The girl seemed to be very much like her; a girl of little words and shy.

Oh wow. Two shy girls sitting together. What a wonderful stimulating lively conversation we’re going to have Amerix thought to herself keeping in a sarcastic smile. At least being in a big university would allow her to improve her severely lacking social skills.

Amerix caught the smile that Liliana offered. She didn’t consider herself to be a good judge of character, given her history, but the smile did not seem genuine to her. It did not reach her eyes and looked like it took a lot of effort for her to force one out. Amerix wanted to ask if anything was wrong but she had just met her. There was no way, at least Amerix thought so, that Liliana would confide in her. She herself wouldn’t tell someone she just met the things that were bothering her.

When Liliana turned her attention to her notebook, Amerix took that as a signal that she didn’t want to talk anymore. She opened her textbook and read a couple of paragraphs. Surprisingly, it wasn’t as awkward as she thought it would be. Instead, a comfortable silence settled between them. After Amerix read a couple of paragraphs and wrote down a few points, she began to be curious about the house elf. House elves were rarely seen in universities and Amerix began to wonder why Liliana had one with her. Were house elves even allowed in universities? Maybe it was because Liliana had some kind of condition that required her to be there. Amerix thought back to the time when Liliana had seemed to blank out. She had reassured the elf she was fine after she snapped back. Curiosity bubbled up in Amerix and she really wanted to ask.

As was her nature, she began to think through what would happen if she did ask. She could lose a potential friend by asking a personal question too soon. Or she would receive a reasonable explanation. She could also be lied to about the real reason and then it would take forever to gain back her trust. Should she risk everything to satisfy her curiosity?

The mind battle went on with Amerix arguing against herself. Her textbook sat idle on the table, her eyes seeing nothing but black scribbles on a white background as the wheels in her mind turned.

Before she knew what she was doing, her mouth opened of its own accord and she heard herself asking, “I hope you don’t mind me asking and I really hope I’m not being rude or touching a personal subject but . . . why do you have a house elf with you?”

The silence that followed her statement was welcomed, and Lily went back to her own work. With somebody sitting next to her, she didn't quite feel comfortable about writing in her diary, and she supposed it was a good thing too; she really needed to get started on her homework. An few essays were due and she picked one at random to begin with.

Halfway through, she heard the question that was no doubt directed at her and she cringed inwardly. As much as she loved the company of Bella, the house elf was a dead giveaway that something was different about the witch. After all, it wasn't a common sight for a student to have one following them around.

"Please wait," she whispered, almost to herself. For a moment she wondered if Amerix had heard her but didn't bother to dwell on it, instead grabbing her speech notebook (as she called it) and her pen.

    I'm a Seer
Bella helps me when I have visi...
    I have the inner eye
    I can see
    I can't tell you

Shaking her head to herself she sighed. That last one was too rude, too harsh for her liking. With another sigh, she tapped the pen against the table, thinking deeply.

    Bella is my personal assistant.

Nodding to herself she paused, thinking even more.

Bella is my personal assistant. She helps to make sure that I do not

Here she stopped. 'Do not' what? Prophecy aloud? Scare people?

Bella is my personal assistant. She helps to make sure that I do not do anything I regret. It's... It's a complicated story.

Reading over the sentences a few times she let out a breath. Staring at the words, she softly read from it. "Bella is my personal assistant. She.. She helps to make sure that I.. That I don't do anything that I regret. It's a complicated story."

Closing the book, she turned her head to look at Amerix, wondering if her answer was satisfactory.

Amerix noticed Liliana's mouth moving but didn't hear anything. Her eyebrows rose in surprise but she didn't comment on it. She thought that surprised her but she was rendered speechless when, instead of answering her, Liliana opened her notebook and began writing. This was the first time Amerix had ever seen something like this.

What a rude girl! I asked her a question and she deliberately ignored me! Amerix thought. It was not only rude, it was the wierdest thing ever for someone to appear not to hear you but write in a notebook instead.

As she was about to label Liliana as 'rude' but a reminder from her mother popped into her head. Jemima had reprehended her countless times for jumping to conclusions before finding out what was really going on. She should have learned from her many mistakes of assuming things about people.

Well, except for that one time when I really did not jump to conclusions. Amerix almost scoffed at her own naiveness for ever trusting the boy who cheated on her.

Liliana still had not looked up from writing. She seemed to be cancelling sentences then rewriting them. Deciding that she had lost a potential friend, she was just about to amend her mistake of asking the question by apologising and leaving when she heard Liliana speak. Only...she wasn't looking at her. She was reading from her notebook.

"Bella is my personal assistant. She.. She helps to make sure that I.. That I don't do anything that I regret. It's a complicated story."

A tsunami of realisations hit her as well as a barrage of new questions when she saw and heard what Liliana spoke and did. She's writing to plan what she says before she says it. Kinda like me except I think it through. Personal assistant? Do things that she'll regret? What in the world could she mean? Everybody does things they regret but they don't have a personal assistant following them around. Those were barely scraping the amount of questions and statements racing through her brain.

Between it all, she could only manage to say, "I see." She paused for a moment to gather her thoughts before asking, "If you don't mind me asking, what exactly is the complicated story?

There was a pause after Lily spoke, and for a moment she was afraid she had said too much - or too little - and had scared off the witch. But then another question was asked and she froze. Now what could she say? This was worst nightmare come true; somebody she just met asking her about her abilities. Well, to be fair, Amerix wasn't asking directly about her abilities, but her question was leading to it.

Once again her notebook was opened and her pen twirled around in her fingers as she thought. Her previous words seemed to glow in front of her as she looked at the page. I am a seer But she couldn't say that... Could she? How would the witch react, anyway?

With a soft wrinkle of her nose, she put the tip of the pen to the page.

I am a seer. I prophecy at random.

She almost chuckled to herself at that, but stopped herself when she realized that her words were the exact truth, and there was nothing funny about it.

Complicated in the fact that I could ruin the entire future when I speak.

Rolling her eyes she crossed out the words. There was no way she would say that.

It means that, if you really want to know, it would take a lot of explaining.

That.. Was better. But it didn't exactly answer the question. Beneath that, she started afresh.

Complications arise when an issue is more than surface deep. However, that also means that it requires more than just one glance to understand. My story is one that runs far and runs deep. In order to understand it, you must understand me, and that is no an easy task. If.. If you want to know...

She stopped. What was she even thinking? The whole seer business was supposed to be a secret, because if people knew, then there was a possibility that they would treat her differently. But at the same time... Wasn't she an open person? She was always taught by her parents to be open about who she was, to never hide secrets unless it was important. Well, okay, this was important... For someone given a name meaning 'wisdom', she wasn't very smart.

Instead, she took a deep breath and decided, against all better reason, to read that last paragraph that she wrote, right up to the last sentence. ".. Then, well..." She looked towards the other witch and motioned towards herself and shrugged lightly, not knowing what else to do.

Amerix watched rather amusedly as the whole process of writing and cancelling began again. She could probably get used to it. She herself understood the need to analyse things through before saying or acting them out but it looked more severe for Liliana. Perhaps their personal reasons for doing so may vary but they still did it. It comforted Amerix to know that she wasn't the only one who wanted, no, needed to think things through.

So, Amerix waited patiently, going back to her textbook and reading a couple of lines. The words passed right over her head, none of them really sinking into her brain or making much sense to her. Her mind was way to distracted to concentrate on studies. She looked up when she heard Liliana talking.

Complications arise when an issue is more than surface deep. However, that also means that it requires more than just one glance to understand. My story is one that runs far and runs deep. In order to understand it, you must understand me, and that is not an easy ask. If.. if you want to know.. Then well..."

Amerix was thoroughly surprised that Liliana was willing to be so open. She never would have opened up to someone she had just met. It usually took a few months, sometimes even years, for her to fully trust anyone. She didn't want to be broken again. Should she take Liliana up on her offer? Amerix certainly wanted to know but her intuition kicked in and her conscience whispered that she should probably let Liliana get back to her studies. She looked like she had a pile of homework to complete. Amerix herself needed to catch up on her studies. But then again, her curiosity wasn't satiated and the other side of her nagged at her to ask Liliana to explain. Then again, would she be obliged to confide back to Liliana about something in her life since Liliana decided to be open with her? How Amerix hated decisions!

"I..uh..I wouldn't want to keep you from your work but if you do have time and only if you want to, I would like to know," Amerix said hesitantly, hoping that Liliana would say yes. She wouldn't be able to sleep tonight if she didn't know. Her brain would be concocting reasons and explanations through the night, robbing her of her sleep.

Trust. That was something that Lilliana had a lot of, and at the same time, was something she lacked. It was weird, and she was quite sure nobody would understand if she tried to explain it, but it was the truth. It was like this: she trusted people because to her, there was nothing more valuable that she could give other than that, but, at the same time, she knew that not everyone could be trusted, and that too much could lead to betrayal and hurt. She had seen way too many people getting hurt because they were over trusting, not that they knew she knew.

That wasn't the only reason. Lily knew that she herself had to be trusted, because of her abilities. She would literally be spying on another person's life, and if she couldn't be trusted, then what was the point of having the ability? More than once she had wondered if there was anyone out there who had the same abilities as her, except used it for their own personal gain. It wouldn't be too hard - use things that one sees against a person. After all, she had seen some things that she was sure nobody would ever want to be made public. But she never told anyone about it, simply because she was raised to be a good person.

The first few words entered Lily's ears, but she wasn't hearing any more. Interrupting the witch entirely, she began to speak, her tone low and hard, not like before. At once the elf was at her side, quill and parchment at the ready, scribbling down frantically, while simultaneously glancing around to make sure that the witch wasn't being too loud. She wasn't, and only those in the immediate surroundings could hear what she was saying.

"A past of betrayal and lost relationships. Daydreams and wishes on stars pass with the years; the heart has been locked away... A mission of importance will be given, entrusted to the leader of the squad... No lives will be lost that day. The bravery of one leads to more. The stone wall will be chipped away; two broken hearts become... whole... as... one."

And then, with a blink of the eye, Lily started, then stared at Amerix in horror. Although she couldn't remember what she said - she never did - Bella being at her side holding a piece of parchment told her exactly what had occurred. So, she didn't need to say anything, after all; the answer to Amerix's question had provided itself. Now all that was left was to see how the witch took it, and Lilliana was doing her best not to shake with nerves.

Weekend Studying and Possible Friends (Amerix) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Weekend Studying and Possible Friends (Amerix)   Weekend Studying and Possible Friends (Amerix) EmptySun Dec 28, 2014 6:30 pm

Amerix started in surprise when Liliana interrupted her. Fear began to creep into her heart when she heard Liliana's tone of voice. For a moment, she panicked and froze, not hearing the first couple of words Liliana said because of the thundering of her own heart. She noticed though that the elf was recording what Liliana was saying and was remaining perfectly calm, well as calm as she could be while writing down every word coming out of Liliana's mouth. It was as if the elf was used to this sort of thing happening.

Listening carefully, Amerix realised that Liliana was giving a prophecy. Putting her thoughts on hold, she gave her full attention to the words spouting from Liliana's mouth. It seemed to Amerix that the meaning of each sentence stood alone, apart from the others, and yet...somehow, they seemed connected; almost like it was different stages in the life of one person. Transfixed, Amerix sat glued to her seat. She had never seen someone giving a prophecy in real life. It was amazing and yet it held a tinge of sacredness to it.

When Liliana was done, Amerix saw a look cross her face but it passed before she could place it. It looked almost as though Liliana was scared.
The first thing that came to Amerix's mind was to blurt out that Liliana was a seer and the second was to ask whom the prophecy was meant for. Her mental filter and brakes kicked in and Amerix was left gaping with no words coming out of her mouth. After blinking a few times, she closed her mouth and mumbled out an apology. She should probably ask if Liliana was alright. That look made Amerix concerned about her.

"Are you okay?" Amerix asked. While waiting for Liliana's reply, her mental gears started turning.

Taking deep breath, she allowed her mind to do it's work. How in the world would she respond to what just happened? What should she say? How should she behave? Excited? Bored? What if Liliana got offended by her reaction? If she were too excited, Liliana might just avoid her and never be her friend. If she didn't give enough of a reaction, Liliana might think she thought the prophecy was unimportant.

Go for the middle ground, Amy she thought to herself.

"Wow, you're a seer," Amerix said showing some excitement and interest in her tone of voice. In truth, she wanted to jump up and down. It was, after all, her first time witnessing a prophecy. She hoped she hadn't taken too long to respond. "That's uh..That's amazing." After a short pause, she continued, "Is that what you meant when you said it's complicated and that I'd have to understand you?"

Disorientated was the only thing that Lilliana felt whenever she finished giving a prophecy, and this time was no different. It was almost as though she had to readjust to the world, and, in a way, that was exactly what she did; since she didn't - couldn't - remember her prophecies, it was literally a few moments of her life that was blank. She remembered the moments before, with Amerix beginning to speak, and the moments after, when she found Bella holding a parchment with one hand and the other holding Lily's arm, but not what happened in between.

The first few times she had burst into tears, terrified, but by now she was used to it - or as used to having blackouts-where-you-predicted-the-future one could get, and despite the fear that was always there, she didn't cry any more.

"Thank you, Bella," she said softly, before turning her attention to the witch who, surprisingly, didn't look as terrified as some people had.

"I..- I'm fine," she answered after a moments hesitation. No, she quite honestly wasn't, because she hated the entire ordeal with her abilities, but she would never, ever say that. Only two people in the entire universe knew what she truly thought of her powers - her mom and her dad.

"Wow, you're a seer... That's uh..That's amazing." After a short pause, she continued, "Is that what you meant when you said it's complicated and that I'd have to understand you?"

Lily nodded slowly. Amazing was not the word she would have used had the position been switched around, but then again, she was the one who had to live with it, so maybe if they did switch positions, Lily would be just as ignorant. Nodding again to confirm the question, Lilliana gave a tiny smile. "Yes." Mentally, she added, But it's not just that. It's a burden to carry such responsibilities. That is what I have to live with - knowing that what I say could affect history.

There was no judgement on the face of the witch before her, only curiosity, which was understandable. "That's what Bella is for. She makes sure what I say is ..." she paused, searching for the right word to use. "Is recorded and kept private."

Weekend Studying and Possible Friends (Amerix) Empty
PostSubject: Re: Weekend Studying and Possible Friends (Amerix)   Weekend Studying and Possible Friends (Amerix) EmptySun Dec 28, 2014 7:07 pm

Amerix drew her eyebrows together at Liliana's reply. To her, she didn't look that fine at all. It worried Amerix to think that Liliana could feel weak or drained of energy after a giving a prophecy. Amerix didn't know what seers felt like after they prophesied. She didn't know much about seers, only the little that she had studied at her wizarding school. Even then, the textbooks didn't say much about them.

It was the experience of a lifetime for Amerix to be meeting a real seer. She was bursting with so many questions but she didn't want to overwhelm Liliana with them. Maybe Liliana was tired of her questions and if she asked more, she might just get up and leave. But to Amerix, she didn't seem the type that would do that. Right.. And you are a wonderful judge of character. was Amerix's sarcastic reminder to herself.

"That's what Bella is for. She makes sure what I say is ..." she paused, searching for the right word to use. "Is recorded and kept private."

Was Liliana testing her ability to keep a secret? Testing if she could be trusted? Wait, recorded? Does that mean Liliana doesn't remember what she prophesied? That question immediately brought Amerix's mind back to the prophecy. Who was it meant for? Amerix had been in the middle of saying something when Liliana started prophesying. Her mind started breaking it down and analysing it.

"A past of betrayal and lost relationships.Daydreams and wishes on stars pass with the years; the heart has been locked away... That sounded a lot like what Amerix had been through. Ever since she had a string of people she thought she trusted but they eventually humiliated and betrayed her, she had set up a guard around herself.

A mission of importance will be given, entrusted to the leader of the squad... No lives will be lost that day. The bravery of one leads to more. The stone wall will be chipped away; two broken hearts become... whole... as... one." The first part sounded a lot like a squad of Aurors and the second part...marriage? Was the prophecy meant for her? The vague meaning of it combined with the fact that Liliana was looking at her caused Amerix to believe it was for her.

The new revelation froze Amerix's brain for a couple of minutes as the realisation sank into her. She was going to get married? She had always dreamed of it but after he did what he did and after... she had never dared to step out and meet or be involved with other guys other than a passing 'hello'.

Snapping back to reality, she said awestruck, "That prophecy was for me?" Then remembering Liliana's earilier comment, Amerix said, "And don't worry. You can trust me. I won't go simply telling everybody about this."

Quietly she added, "Not that I actually have anybody to tell."

The look that was written on Amerix's face when Lily answered made the witch want to wrinkle her nose in disgust. Pity. It was the one thing she hated, because she did not feel the need to be pitied. Sure, it was a horrifying business, being a Seer and all that, but pity was not something she needed. As her parents had told her many times, it was not out of pity that they adopted Lily, but rather love.

    "That prophecy was for me?"

So she had just given a prophecy. That would be the first one after three weeks of silence, which was a new record for her. "I.. I don't know," she said quietly, because truthfully, she didn't know. She didn't even know what she had said.

Now she, too, was curious, and did something she hardly ever did; she reached over and read the words that Bella had written down and raised her eyebrows in surprise. Something about broken hearts and daydreams and betrayal... With this new information, she gave a shrug; she still didn't know. How could she? They were always in riddles, always mysterious.

But as her mind began to replay what she had apparently said, the memories of what she had seen when she first looked at Amerix surfaced. The boy who was probably her boyfriend cheating on her. The name calling... But, then again, prophecies were usually never what they seemed on the surface. And then she no doubt realized it seemed like she was being rude or shrugging off the question, so she added, "I don't know who my prophecies are for.. They just come."

Again the mention of trust came up and Lilliana almost rolled her eyes, but stopped herself. Why did it seem that everyone she told seemed to think it needed to be kept a secret? If she had it her way, everyone would know, but only because she wanted to spite the ministry and the way they looked at her as a possession, an item, and not a person.

"Not that I actually have anybody to tell."

Was Lily supposed to comfort her? Tell her it's going to be okay? But she wouldn't mean it, and Miranda always told her to only say what she meant. Being sincere was a trait her parents wanted all their kids to have. Instead she kept silent, simply letting the moment pass.

Then, because she knew that if she had found out she was sitting next to a Seer who had just apparently prophesied over you she would be deadly curious, she let out a soft sigh. "Let me guess, you have questions?" she asked, her tone soft and calm, not rude.

When Amerix heard Liliana's reply, she became more puzzled. She doesn't know?! That's weird Amerix thought. There was only one reason Amerix could think of that could explain why Liliana didn't know. Amerix remembered how Liliana had blanked out when they first met. Perhaps that was what happened when Liliana prophesied too. Her conjectures were confirmed when she saw Liliana reading what the house elf had written down. She doesn't remember what she said. So not only does she not know who the prophecy was meant for but she couldn't remember the prophecy itself. That explains why Bella needed to record it down.

"Let me guess, you have questions?"

Liliana definitely hit it right on the bulls-eye. She had so many questions to ask that she didn't know where to start. Perhaps she should start with the obvious and work her way further. Better be polite about it, though she reminded herself.

"Well, um.. Yeah I do have questions. But I hope I'm not disturbing you or pulling you away from your homework if I ask them. Maybe just one and if you have time, maybe more? I think the most obvious question would be why do you not remember what you prophesied and who the prophecy is for?

"Well, um.. Yeah I do have questions. But I hope I'm not disturbing you or pulling you away from your homework if I ask them."

The witch was showing no fear, only curiosity, and it was a welcoming thought to Lily; most of her past friends had either tried to use her, or ended their friendship upon realizing she was different. Smiling at Amerix, she shook her head slightly. "No, I wasn't doing it to begin with. I really don't mind. I mean.." It's not everyday I meet someone who accepts this, she finished in her mind, but not aloud. Instead, she gave a little shrug. "It's honestly okay with me."

The question came, and she frowned a little. Part of her wanted to joke, That's two questions! but she was too deep in thought to voice it. Seers were a topic covered in Divination, and she remembered having a Professor dissect everything her kind said and did; her classmates' reactions had told her much about them, for they did not know she was one. It had been a very difficult lesson for her, but then again, life was hard, so it honestly wasn't too much for Lilliana to handle... But, her mind was off topic again, and she turned it back to the questions asked.

Either Amerix had not taken Divination, or was absent during that class. Trying to think of the best way to phrase it, without sounding like a know-it-all, she smiled first. "I don't know. It's always been that way; Seers cannot remember what they said, in terms of prophecies." She paused again, then shrugged. "Quite honestly, I don't know. Sometimes the prophecy is for the person I'm with - sometimes it's about events that are to take place. And, although it's never happened to me.. yet... I do know that you can prophesy over someone else. I mean, Sybill Trelawney to Dumbledore about Harry Potter and Voldemort would be the best example, although she was only part seer."

A soft smile on her face, she placed her hands in her lap and waited for the next question.

Amerix was slightly relieved when Liliana didn't seem to mind being disturbed from what she was doing before but she was having conflicting feelings about this meeting. Her curiosity was battling with her personality. She felt like she was an interviewer or a reporter intruding rudely into another person's private life. She never did like prying into other people's history knowing that she liked keeping hers private. Somehow, every time she learned more about another person, she felt obligated to tell them more about herself and that was not what she wanted.

Then again, this was a seer she was talking with. She could have already seen into her past. That thought terrified Amerix. She had only ever gotten condemnation and judgement from people who knew about her past and she wasn't about to rehash that here in university. She wanted a fresh start, she wanted people to see her untainted by her past, she wanted people to accept her based on who she is and not based on her past mistakes.

Amerix nodded absently at Liliana's reply, not hearing exactly what she was saying, letting the words go over her head. She bit her lip as her fingers worked the pen in her hand mercilessly while she debated her options. She could ask if Liliana had seen into her past and if she did, what she saw. Then that would put Amerix in the hot spot of deciding if she was alright with that. On the other hand, if Liliana had already seen into her past, she would have reacted in some way when they met right? Her smile told Amerix that there was a possibility she hadn't yet done so. There was only one way she would find out.

Summoning every last bit of courage her body could hold, Amerix opened her mouth, ready to ask the question. Her bravado abandoned her for a second and she was left with and 0-shaped mouth. She closed it, biting on her lower lip. Her eyes found something really interesting on the table and stayed glued there. Then, before she knew what she was doing, she had blurted out the question.

"Did you see into my past?"

Amerix was shocked at herself. She didn't know where that came from since only a minute before, she had lost courage. It looked like she wanted the answer more than anything for her brain to blurt that out. Her eyes refused to meet Liliana's as her heart thundered in her chest waiting in anticipation for her answer.

The silence that greeted her reply made her worry. For a moment, she thought she had scared away the other witch, and that was not something she wanted to do. I probably shouldn't have gone into such detail, she chided herself. That was always her downfall - her knowledge of different subjects - because when people asked her a question, she normally went into detail. This was mostly due to her own curious personality; if she asked about something, she wanted an in depth answer, not one that could be shrugged off, and as such, tended to give the same.

When the next question came, it was the most brutal and honest question she had ever been asked. It was most definitely not what she was expecting, and she froze, not knowing how she was to even begin to dissect that. Funny, how 6 words could bring such worry to a person.

Taking a deep breath, Lily knew that if she pondered over it, she would never end up saying anything at all, and with as much bravado as she could summon, she nodded once. But then, she tilted her head sideways and realized that the other witch was not looking at her, and a dry smile tugged at her lips. Of course Amerix wasn't looking.

Letting out the breath she didn't know she had been holding, she nodded again, and in a tone so soft she wasn't sure if anyone could hear, she muttered, "Yes."

A moment passed, and then she added, "This.. this doesn't change anything for me. I look at you as someone I have never met before. I don't let... anything else cloud my judgement." With a small shrug later, she stopped talking and instead waited for Amerix to respond - if she ever did.

Amerix world seemed to stop as she waited for Liliana to reply. Her heart beat seemed to stop, her breathing seemed to stop and even her ears seemed to cease taking in sounds from the area. She didn’t know which word she wanted Liliana to say; yes or no. If she said ‘yes’, would that change their budding friendship? Amerix sincerely hoped not. Liliana seemed like the kind of friend Amerix needed, a friend who would listen and perhaps a friend she could go to for advice. If she said ‘yes’, would Amerix go through university in constant fear and anxiety that someone knows about her past? It was her own fault and hers alone that her boyfriend betrayed her. She had stubbornly unheeded the advice of her friends and family and not only did that earn her the prize of getting emotionally hurt, it resulted in her boyfriend almost taking advantage of her and at her refusal, running to another girl.

If Liliana said ‘no’, Amerix would be relieved and yet somehow, the thought disappointed her. If Liliana said ‘no’ it would mean that her past would stay buried where it was. No one would know how stupid and vulnerable she used to be. Then again, if Liliana said ‘no’, Amerix wouldn’t have a person who could somewhat understand her, perhaps not fully but to an extent.

It seemed like an eternity before Amerix had her answer. When Liliana replied, she thought she would know how she felt but it just brought on a wave of questions and uncertainties. ‘Yes’ was her answer; soft but certain. How did that make Amerix feel? She herself did not know. Terrified? Assured? Anxious? Confused and conflicted was more like it. Did Liliana despise her now? Or did Amerix just find a friend in whom she could confide?

The next sentences out of Liliana’s mouth gave Amerix her answer. No words could begin to describe the intense relief that flooded her being. She had not lost a potential friend; Liliana did not think ill of her. Or did she? Amerix knew too well the tendency for people to say things they didn’t mean. She had been through that more times than she could count on both her hands. To her, it seemed easy for Liliana to judge her based on what she saw. It would take a very unusual and peculiar person full of strength of character and presence of mind to be able to separate a person’s past from their present self after knowing about their past before they met.

In uncertain tones, Amerix replied, “Are…are you sure? Do you…do you really mean that?” Amerix did not expect to become so vulnerable this early after enrolling in university. She hated being vulnerable; hated the feeling that arose in her when someone held her emotions in their hand. It gave them power over her and left her drowning in a raging ocean of helplessness.

Then came the question that frightened her the most. “What exactly did you see?”
