PostSubject: An Endless Diamond Sky (Brooke)   An Endless Diamond Sky (Brooke) EmptyMon Dec 15, 2014 4:29 pm

    Brooke,

If you can, meet me tonight, under an endless diamond sky.

I'll be standing at the edge of the woods, and if you're lucky you might catch a glimpse of a patronus guiding your way. Let me know if you can make it, okay?

    Yours always
    Yours forever

    Love,

    Joe x

The former Hufflepuff was sure he'd never get the art of the whole level writing business down. It seemed simple, really; write from the heart. That was sort of the problem. Joe wasn't great with feelings anyway, and it didn't help that when he tried to convey anything in a slightly romantic way, he had a hundred words flying through his mind at any one moment.

Regardless of how sure he was that he'd made himself look a complete tool, he kept to his word and at 9:55 exactly, he stood at the edge of the forest, a silvery rabbit springing across the ground in front of him. It was strong, he could feel that in his heart, and a small smile spread over his features as he waited patiently as ever.

At first, the boy had been embarrassed. A rabbit. Of all the creatures, a damned rabbit. But he'd grown rather fond of it, actually, even if it was mostly the way that its nose twitched and ears perked up as if it could hear. It reminded him of his old pet, actually, in a way, and he couldn't help but wonder if it was connected at all.

It probably wasn't, but the thought was nice.

After a morning of classes, Brooke entered her dorm around noon, glad that today was her half-day, and that no other lessons were taking place. Going to her room to change into something more comfortable, she was startled to see an owl sitting patiently outside her window, and she quickly ushered it in, removing the letter on its leg. A huge smile slowly broke across her face as she read the words on the page, the warmth that was reserved only for Joe spreading inside her as she automatically gave the owl a treat, not truly aware of what she was doing as she took in each handwritten word. Although they had been together for what felt like forever, and at the same time not long enough, she never, ever got tired of things like this. Setting down her bag, she scrambled to reply, unable to stop the huge grin on her face.

    Joe,

Have you been watching Disney again? I will most definitely be there. What time is good for you? Can't wait!

I am both yours always and forever.

    Love,
    Brooke.

Time seemed to slow down as she counted the minutes to the meeting time, occupying herself by doing some homework, and reading, and then doing more work, and reading even more, only to find that only an hour had passed. Why was it whenever Joe was involved everything seemed to go wonky? Time slowed down, and yet sped up. She felt nervous but at the same time, he was the one thing he wasn't worried about. Words seemed to fail her, but she could also never shut up around him.

Finally, it reached half past nine and Brooke scrambled to get changed, before rushing down to the grounds - although she knew she wasn't late. Pausing a distance away, she grinned at the sight of the rabbit and, an idea forming in her head, moved to hide behind a large rock, crouching down and slipping out her wand. Focusing on the day she found the letter on her bed - Valentines day - she muttered the spell under her breath and a few moments later, a dolphin emerged, and swam gracefully through the air to greet the rabbit.

    Brooke,

What do you mean "again"? You seem to imply that I ever stopped. I'll have you around mine over Christmas and we'll have a Disney day: dumb movies and stupid amounts of chocolate. You'll love those films if it kills me!

Great; shall we say 10ish? I'll see you there.

    And I, you.

    Love,
    Joe x

The moment he spotted the silvery dolphin swimming effortlessly through the air, Joe bit down on his lips to try and stop the inevitable grin. He held his patronus strong, waiting for the witch and taking a few steps in her direction, as if it would make them meet sooner. Now, Joe was usually a very patient person, but every second she wasn't at his side was a second he wasn't in particular favour of.

He dropped his arm to his side and looked at her, fondness radiating from his being as he poked his wand in his pocket. The rabbit dissipated into the air, leaving a soft glow that soon also faded into the darkness. "I don't think I'll ever stop missing you," he told her, pulling the witch into his arms and holding her there for a moment. "Now, what's your vendetta against Disney?"

Joe was only teasing her, of course, he'd never go out of his way to upset Brooke. She meant far, far too much to him for that to ever become a possibility.

    Joe,

That sounds like a fantastic plan. I'm looking forward to it already. <3 Well, except the dying part, because I don't think I could live if you died. So how about dumb movies and stupid amounts of chocolate without the dying?

10 sounds perfect. See you then!

    I love you,
    Brooke.

As she watched Joe step forward, Brooke straightened and moved out from behind the rock, walking slowly towards him. Part of her just wanted to stare at him forever, but the other half wanted to be closer, to hold him and touch him and know he was there and it wasn't just a dream. They had gone through so much, and now every moment that they weren't together made her feel incomplete, as though missing a vital part of who she was - and it was just that: Joe was quite literally something she now relied on to survive, like an organ she would die without.

Mimicking his actions, she kept her wand and blushed at his words, letting her body melt into his as she, too, put her arms around him. When they finally let go, it felt too soon, and at the same time, as though they had been in that position forever. Time always seemed to go wonky when Joe was there, and it was already something Brooke was used to. At his question, she laughed. "Before I answer..." she started, then leaned forward and very quickly brought her lips to his, something she yearned to do whenever they were together. A few seconds later, she pulled away and grinned at him.

"Depending on which Disney," she teased, then paused and giggled. "Which couple do you think we're like?" she asked slyly, winking playfully at him.

An odd sort of coldness spread through Joe's body as they each pulled away. Quite honestly, Joe longed for times when they could hold each other, love each other, enjoy the splendid simplicity of just being with each other. He longed for times when he wouldn't have to let go of Brooke, when he would never feel the chill of the wind against his flesh where the blew inside his shirt through the small holes between his buttons. It was ridiculous, he knew, and probably just a little on the clingy side, but he could long for it all he wanted in his mind.

Just as always, a breath caught in his throat when she kissed him. A warmth spread through his chest, removing the slonging sensations completely as he lightly rested his fingertips on her waist. The feeling started small at first, the same way it always did, growing until it reached his extremities and he had to hold back a sigh of contentment. Gods, he didn't think he'd ever get used to that. The young man smiled into their kiss, and the effortless grin stayed on his lips long after she'd pulled away.

Joe pulled his bottom lip between his teeth for a moment, thinking. In that moment, all of the Disney couples he knew and loved, held so dearly to his heart and childhood, decided to vanish from his brain. The answer became clear to him after a couple of seconds. "Philip and Aurora," he told her eventually, confirming it with a barely noticeable nod of his head. "You're definitely an Aurora, anyway. Kind, gentle, sweet, charming... Alright, maybe not so graceful, but I'm hardly one to talk." He reached up to push a strand of hair away from her cheek, running his thumb lightly over her cheekbone as he gave her a soft grin.

Brooke Walters was truly a thing of beauty.

As she waited for him to answer, she took the moment of silence to just look at him. She would have said she was memorizing his features, but she already had, and there was not one part of his face she didn't know. When she closed her eyes, she could effortlessly picture him, his smile, his voice...

"Philip and Aurora. You're definitely an Aurora, anyway. Kind, gentle, sweet, charming... Alright, maybe not so graceful, but I'm hardly one to talk."

Blushing lightly at his touch, she smiled at him and his words, almost feeling as though she would melt right there and then. Lyrics from a Muggle song she had recently heard popped into her mind and she giggled a little; she was sure he'd know it wasn't at him. "Bubbly," she commented to herself softly, searching his eyes with her own.

"And you are my Philip," she continued, moving to stand beside him, linking her arm through his. She began to walk towards the edge of the lake, her mind running at full speed to remember the characters.

Sleeping beauty. Which meant that... She let out a tiny gasp. "Have you been secretly analyzing our relationship?" she asked playfully. "Because that's perfect." She paused, trying to form the right words to say, but failing.

So instead, she just let them out as they presented themselves, giving up on preparing altogether. "You saved me with a kiss, waking me up from a haze and showing me what love was... Is.. And the witch.." Here she let out a tiny giggle, having apparently just called Josh Murray a 'witch'. "The witch tried to stop you, stop us.. But we won. Philip almost died saving Aurora..." she trialled off and instead leaned up to kiss Joe on the cheek. "Thank you," she murmured.

A moment passed, and then she gave a laugh, unable to keep so serious for so long. "Of course," she added lightly, "we could say I was Philip, what with kissing you awake and all that." Giving him a nudge, she chuckled again.

Finding a smooth rock by the shore of the lake, she slid her arm out of his and sat down, looking up at him and patting the space next to her, inviting him to do the same.
