    A Chance Meeting (Cordelai) Empty

Florrie had had nothing to do since she had arrived back from a lovely holiday in Italy. And in truth, she really didn't want to be in Britain. She missed the warmth, the sun, her cousins that she never got to see enough. Britain was dull, cloudy, and since leaving school, she hadn't had much contact with her supposed 'friends'. Honestly, she didn't care. She was the quiet one, the studious one who always seemed to be forgotten, but she was too absorbed in her own things to even care who was shagging who, or whatever the gossip had been in school. She'd yearn to get out, to get on with her life away from meaningless small talk that would imitate intimacy.

And ironically, that's what she was doing now. Meaningless small talk- well, muttering to herself- bitter comments about those who she didn't like the look of, while sipping a glass of vodka and orange in the Leaky Cauldron. She really had nothing better to do, and she was missing the sunny warmth of Italy.

Cordelai's week had been alright, she supposed. It wasn't the best she'd had but it wasn't the worse, not by far. Two Pureblood events - balls, one by her family and one by another - had seen her dressed up in perfection with full length gowns and heels. But that had been enough if that's and Core was longing for something more active, more fun than politeness and girly gossip. No, she wanted clubs and alcohol and flirting.

And so, dressed in a miniskirt and a sleeveless tank top, Cordelai entered the Leaky Cauldron. Glancing around the room, she didn't see anyone interesting - yet - and so made her way to the bar, taking a seat and signalling to the bartender. Without needing to speak, he brought her a Pina Colada; it was a Friday, and Friday's meant one of her favourite Muggle drinks. Sipping at the drink, she scanned the room, taking in as much as she could.

And then, she heard someone muttering next to her and turned slightly to better catch the words. A smirk touched her lips, and she scooted a bit closer, not bothering to even try and hide the fact she'd been eavesdropping. "Yes, she looks rather drab, doesn't she?" she replied. "It's like her great-grandmother dressed her, no?" There was a pause, and then she stuck out a hand. "Cordelai," she introduced. Perhaps she had misjudged, and there was someone of interest after all.
