Jade was brought up in the country side of Britain, a house next to the tracks of the Hogwarts Express, but then they moved to an apartment in Diagon Alley, so her mother could continue to run her shop easily. Her mother has sort of a pet shop that sells a variety more than Eyelop's Owl Emporium, including animals from gold fish to the occasional Bob cat. Jade has helped the shop for pretty much her entire life, and started getting paid in her fourth year of Hogwarts. She has a fairly easy life, but also feels that she has more drive than other students.

When Jade started Hogwarts, her mother announced she was having another baby. Jade was ecstatic. A few months after Jade knew, her mother had a miscarriage, and it hurt her and her mother deeply, even though Jade was young. This helped Jade mature a little bit earlier, and helped her realize that everything in life mattered. Her grades were awesome, so she got a headstart in a lot of classes. She became very smart, and got top ten in her class in Hogwarts.
