When Will was in school, there were plenty of children who called him a "Mama's Boy". To which at the tender age of 11, and learning the basics of being a human child, he was confused. If he was born from his mother, was he not his mother's boy? Eventually Alvin Gunderson told him that it meant he was like a baby still; attached like a newborn to her chest. Will was disgusted by that visual to say the least, but still confused. What was so bad about being close to the person that raised you? Nonetheless, he liked being close to his mom.

Therefore moving and living away from her for college was a weird adjustment for them both. Of course they had some practice while he was in Hogwarts, but it hurt a bit to think that this was a permanent situation. Regardless, Will knew that this was an important part of human culture; eventually leaving the home and people you were raised with no matter how much affection you had for them. He wondered sometimes if humans knew that it was by their own choosing that they spent so much of their lives alone.  When he asked Teresa about it, she said that they probably didn't know and instead chose to fill that loneliness with materials or children.

And on the quest of materialistic needs, she sent him a letter asking for a favor. It was specifically asking for a potion only sold in Knockturn Alley. Teresa had no problems dealing with Dark Magic, but even when he was younger Will abhorred Dark Magic. However, the need for the potion was unexpected and she needed it quickly. It made him nervous, but he told he would go get it for her, and off he went.

As he walked around Knockturn Alley he realized he had no idea where the Apothecary was.

"Um, excuse me," he asked the first person he could see wandering around as well, "do you know how I can get to Mr. Culpepper's Apothecary?" He said with his brows furrowed. "I don't quite know how to get there, I'm a bit unfamiliar with the territory."

It was quite by chance that Serafina found herself wandering the dark streets of Knockturn Alley. She wasn't normally one to go poking about places like this, with their suspicious shoppers and not-always-legal merchandise. But she was bored, and when she was bored, there were no lengths she did not go to to ensure she was not. And so, Serafina found herself walking down unfamiliar streets, peering into windows and wondering what each shop sold and why on earth anyone would need any of those items.

Stupid and unnecessary were two choice words when it came to majority of the items she saw. But then again, she knew not everyone was as privileged as her when it came to life, so it was no wonder some people turned to other means of gaining wealth and fame.

A voice interrupted her thoughts, but she didn't quite realise the voice was talking to her, until she turned slightly to catch a glimpse of the idiots who was speaking so close to her ear, and found it was a male looking straight at her. He wasn't too bad looking, but his question took her at surprise. Looking around to make sure he was indeed speaking to her, she raised an eyebrow at him, glancing down at her clothes pointedly and then back up at him.

A dress, fancy and expensive as usual, that most definitely didn't suit this part of the wizarding world. "Do I really look as though I'm familiar with the layout of this .. place?" she asked, her tone shifting slightly with her last word to display her obvious disdain at being associated with Knockturn Alley. What a fool. Couldn't he see her dress? Her posture and demeanour? Surely anyone with half a brain could tell she wasn't the kind to walk these streets? The cute ones are always so dumb, she sighed internally. It took the fun out of everything, really, because when they were that stupid, they could never offer her a challenge.

The first person Will approached turned out to be a very lovely lady. She was dressed in clothes that were clearly of a higher to degree than his. He couldn't help but admire the delicate jutting of her shoulders, the gentle curves adorned by pretty cloth for a dress, and the clear fit body underneath it. He kept his eyes neutral and his face unaffected as he looked back up to her. It wasn't his fault he looked her up and down; he could already see multiple people checking her out from afar and doing it much more blatantly than he was.

Besides she looked down at herself first, so really was he to blame? (His inner-conscious that was his mother screamed: "Yes! You're a gentleman, William Nathaniel Fairoway, not some heathen beast").

Will was familiar with attraction; often gave in to the temptation of skin to both male and female in his younger days, but he was older now. A bit more mature. He could sense a siren using her looks to reel men in from afar. And this woman was not of a kind make-up, he could tell already. However, Will got bored. He didn't mind submitting to a woman's wills so long as they weren't the kind of woman to make him bored out of his mind. And the woman before him?

She screamed interesting without needing to open her mouth.

"I suppose not, you look more familiar with galas and fancy floors made of marble. But then that raises the question, why're you here then?" He asked with a quirk of his brow upward, "and may I have your name, perhaps? Makes me feel less shady conversing with a beautiful woman in an area known for dark magic."

As the male continued to speak, Serafina smirked in her head, outwardly displaying nothing other than the same polite smile she reserved for Pureblood events. Cute, she thought, the tone of the voice in her head scathing; not for a second did mean it literally. He was good looking, that she would admit, but if he was fun - if he would provide her entertainment - was yet to be seen. He was trying, and it was an .. attempt .. a commendable one, but in the end it was an attempt nevertheless, and not a successful one either.

Cute, she thought again. It was an insult. Anything 'cute' was not worthwhile her time; 'cute' was for kids, children, something used to describe immaturity and childishness, so the moment she labelled something that it meant she had deemed it unworthy - both of her, and her time.

But that didn't mean she couldn't have fun at his expense. So, with a coy smile, she said, "Are you always so forthcoming with strangers on the street? Why would I tell you my secrets when I have never met you before in my life?"

His next comment almost made her laugh aloud. How long could she taunt him and play him to her tune? It was a challenge she decided to take on; she was, after all, bored. It was why she was walking down that Merlin-forsaken path anyway, so she might as well spend her time on something more fruitful - like taunting some idiot male.

"Now, why would I do that?" She debated laughing, decided against it, and went on in the same light fairy tone as before. "We are, as you have pointed out, in dark-magic territory. You appear practically out of nowhere, ask me directions to buy Merlin knows what, and then proceed to demand my name?" It was now that she let out a tiny giggle, flirty and feminine, perfected after months of trying out different styles.

Giving her head a small shake, as if not quite believing the stupidity of the question. "My dead boy, I am no idiot. How do I know you aren't one of these dark wizards? The power a name holds is astounding; I am not, therefore, giving up my power to just anyone."

Let's see how good you are at playing, she taunted him, mentally. Truth be told, though, her expectations weren't all too high. Still, people could surprise her at times, and she hoped that this was one such case; she could do with a good game.

    William Fairoway was a man.

It was really weird to think of himself this way because somedays he still felt like a faun; young and unnerved by the slightest sound or movement. Those were his earliest days; afraid and uncomfortable in his new skin. He thanked the Gods or whatever deity was keeping him sane that Teresa was his mother because, he would have been absolutely wrecked without her in his life. For one thing, at the age of eight-years-old (human-wise) it’s incredibly hard to understand a culture or even try to understand a culture you know nothing of. Selkies spoke a sea language, and the language above all else was something he continued to practice well after learning language.

He felt blessed that he was such a quick learner with the way that he was able to pick up English and be fluent in it within a year. Merlin knew it was difficult! Then came all the other stuff, but all the magic stuff took him to Hogwarts. It was there that Will really got a feel for what it was like to be a man.

And as a man he knew when a woman stood before him and not just some insipid young woman. He could take on a challenge, no matter how irate this girl was making him, Will was smart and not quick to snap when he knew something was on the line.

A secret? Dear lady, I think you’ve no secrets to divulge. You wear your truths through your clothes; simple deductions tell me your secrets.” He jested with a flash in his eyes, a flash of the emotion of interest, fascination that there was a game between them.

At her laugh and her questions, he kept silent. He kept his lips closed shut and his expression a friendly, neutral emotion. Upon her level of questioning, the multitude and the sheer weight of what she was asking it was clear that she was no ordinary woman; ordinary woman wanted to talk about themselves. He slouched back his smile dropping, figuring that there was no use in acting nice with her when she clearly had no interest in extending the courtesy.

You ask so many questions to two simple ones; with a tone so condescending and rude, do you ask them because you think you’ve something no one else has? Or because you’ve no answers that would interest anyone. Maybe you even do it just to hear your own voice, is it as pretty as you might think it is?” Leave. He dared her mentally. Leave so I might just wander around looking for help in someone a wee-bit more kind, he thought too. Fascinating as she was, her attitude was truly mean, and he was in no mood to snap at a lady.

His words proved his status; he was not of one that matched hers. Indeed, any Pureblood would know that secrets were easily hidden, and truths displayed were never the actual, whole truth. It was chosen, only parts being showed - and, if the training received was of good quality, then one could and would display only exactly what they wanted to show. Nothing more, and nothing less. In this case, Serafina knew she was not giving away her secrets. Nobody knew those; nobody knew her tendency to disobey her parents, or her secret hatred of the roles of female Purebloods. No, that was a danger to her should anyone find out, and so she hid it well, behind peppy clothes and flirtatious smiles and good looks. But inside, she fed and built up resistance to stereotypes, and there was nothing she took pleasure in more than doing so. One day, her parents would regret ever allowing her the freedom they gave her. She was not to be trusted, but with such a trustworthy face, it was hard to tell this.

"Oh? Is that so?" she inquired, a taunting smile just flirting in and out of her lips. "Please, enlighten me. What are these deductions of yours? I would love to know what you think my secrets are." This, at the very least, was the truth - she did want to know what he thought. Not because she was worried he had her figured out, no, but rather, because she wanted to see how well she had him fooled, and just how wrong his opinion of her was.

His answer surprised her. Not one for games, I see, she thought, dryly. It was fairly disappointing, and yet she had been expecting it. Ever since she met Seth, she knew no other person would be quite able to provide her with as much fun. It was like going back to level one or two after reaching a boss level on a video game, or reading a kids book after finishing an adult novel. It was easy and, at times, rather boring. So she merely smiled, shook her head.

"You seem to think I am stuck up," she commented, then let out a slight laugh. "You are not far off. I was raised to think highly of myself, but don't let that fool you. I earn my way through life." A couple seconds passed, and then she stretched out a hand. "Serafina Richardson," she greeted, offering her last name as well as her first. If the man was a good wizard, he'd know what kind of class she was from. "No dark wizard would ever use words against me," she added. "Therefore I know you are not one who could bring me harm; the worst you could do is insult me. I commend you for your effort. It very nearly did just that."

And by nearly, I mean you would have had to try much harder, dear, she thought, but didn't say aloud. Serafina was not easily offended, and that was why she was able to go through life with a smile on her face. All she needed was herself and her brains, both of which she knew would never fail her. No, Serafina was too smart to let words affect her. But she was also smart enough to know the damage they could do, and she wasn't one to hold back from any sort of power.
