Flaws: Elspeth is the type of person who resorts to drinking whenever things go wrong. She's also very insecure, but hides it underneath a layer of judgmental ass. She's also a huge perfectionist.
Strengths: She likes to think she is mature, observant of her surroundings, and quick on her feet.
Weaknesses: She is very blunt and harsh with her words, making her someone people would love to hate. Not that she cares. She's also anti-social, judgmental, pessimistic, and often gets in trouble.



Elspeth had always been the black sheep. She was the middle child that nobody really knew nor cared much about. It wasn't that she was boring, or anything like that; her siblings were simply far more talented than her, even if they had no magical prowess whatsoever. They were also significantly more likeable, as she had no control over her words. Everything spills out of her mouth all at once, and she doesn't really care whether she offends somebody or not. This is one of the many reasons her relatives choose to pointedly ignore her during family reunions. After being treated like she was a lesser being for most of her life, it came as a surprise to her when a wizard arrived at their doorstep and announced that she was a witch. Attending Hogwarts gave Elspeth a chance to prove that she is not inferior to her siblings (or anyone, for that matter).

Even in Hogwarts, she never really fit in. She was a Hufflepuff, and not the "I'm a Hufflepuff because the traits apply to me!" kind. Rather, she was the "the Hat had no idea where to put me, so here I am" kind (or so she thought). She was not particularly happy with this classification, but it gave her all the more reason to prove herself. And prove, she did. She pushed herself and never settled for A's, always going for O's and E's. She focused on her studies, sacrificing her social life in the process. Not that she cared. All that mattered to her was that people realized she wasn't inferior. But for the most part, she kept her head down and focused on her grades.

Everything went downhill when she finished school and her parents tried to seize control of her life. They never really approved of her going to Hogwarts and only agreed when the wizard that came to them said that she "will only be a nuisance if she doesn't learn to control her magic." So the second she stepped foot in her house, her parents insisted that she attend a normal university so she could live a normal life. Naturally, Elspeth disagreed with them. This led to yelling and, in some cases, hitting, and it all eventually spiraled down to Elspeth packing her bags and leaving for London. She drank her problems away (which we all know isn't a very good solution, but she did it anyway). This would have continued, had the crow from MAE and the owl from Hogwarts (bearing her grades) not arrived at her apartment and scared the living daylights out of her. (She was drunk, naturally, but that is a different story for a different time). She, of course, accepted the invitation and wrote to her parents, but she never got a reply back.

She took the hint, packed her bags once more, and didn't look back.
